Intro To Natural Beekeeping

Join Yasir as he leads you through the basics of bee-friendly, natural, organic, small-scale beekeeping. You will leave this class with a competent knowledge of the fundamentals of natural beekeeping, and be ready to set up your own backyard beehive.  The course will focus on a style of apiculture that is exclusively designed for the small-scale beekeeper.

This bee-friendly method aims to care for the bees, allow them to control their own environment, and is a gentler approach than conventional beekeeping, resulting in healthy

contented bees, and superb raw honey!

Healing With the Seasons: Spring Class

The Healing with the Season series is a set of classes wherein we explore the outer, inner, and secret elements. We will look at these elements through the eyes of the 24 Qi Nodes that define the seasons according to the Chinese lunar calendar. We will discuss how to calibrate and synchronize our qi with Nature by working with the elemental qualities of conduct, practice, food, medicine, and environment. In this way, we can extract its lessons and virtues, and become fully alive connecting to the body’s innate intelligence and skillful means.   During our break, we will try a couple of dishes that are infused with seasonal herbs that we have discussed during class to illustrate how food can be medicine.

 

Live Food Alchemy 101

Awakening the Dreamer: Changing the Dream

Awakening the Dreamer is an interactive, multimedia experience meant to deepen our understanding of the current state of the world and how we can take action to create environmental sustainability, spiritual fulfillment, and social justice for all humanity.

We will explore these three core aspects via facilitated interaction and engaging audio-visual elements. We’ll hear from some of the world’s leading experts on topics such as the current state of the Earth’s biodiversity and the reality of the socio-economic disparity throughout the world.  After grounding our awareness in the facts regarding the consequences of humanity’s current relationship with the earth and each other, we will examine how we arrived at is point and how to move forward with empowerment.  Through a process of guided self-inquiry, each individual will discover the unique actions that they wish to take for a more just, sustainable, and fulfilling world.

 

*Awakening the Dreamer was created by the Pachamama Alliance organization in response to an invitation from the Achuar people of the Ecuadorian Amazon to work in partnership to shift the dominant culture of consumption and alienation to one that honors and sustains all life.

 

Nervines: Herbs for Stress, Sleep Anxiety, Pain and Depression

Nervines are plants that have a beneficial effect on the nervous system.  In this class we will focus on three groups of nervines, those that are relaxing, stimulating and restoring.  We will explore seven plant allies that can sooth and support the nervous system, ease anxiety, stress, trauma, pain and help you sleep!  Meet milky oats, skullcap, passionflower, California poppy, damiana, rose, vervain as well as some bonus herbs.  Learn their uses, differences, make some simple effective formulas and visit them in the garden.

 

Build Your Own Natural Bee Hive:

Including an Overview of the Warre Method

Come learn the dynamics and benefits of a natural beekeeping method while learning to build your own Warre hive. You will get an overview of how this bee-friendly method aims to care for the bees, allows them to control their own environment and is a gentler approach than conventional beekeeping.  You will leave with a complete Warre hive including two hive bodies, a roof, quilt and floor. In addition, you will have a working understanding of how to implement this holistic beekeeping method.

Pre-cut building materials, as well as tea and snacks are provided.

 

Movement as Medicine: Self Acupressure for Personal Healing

This workshop focuses on stimulating our bodies' innate capacity to heal through Self Acupressure, Movement and Meditation.  As we refine our ability to listen to our body's signals, we adapt more easily to change.   Students learn to locate specific acupressure points (tsubos) as windows to the soul and gateways to health.  We learn to balance our emotions and open energy pathways for personal healing.  Unblocking these important centers enhances the body's natural flow of energy and facilitates the circulation of chi. The workshop will leave you with specific skills to incorporate into ones daily life or regular practice, leaving you both rejuvenated and relaxed.

Wise Wombmen’s Healing Retreat

Join us for a weekend of Sistar healing.  This retreat offers farm fresh, organic vegetarian meals, morning movement, camping, vendors, beautiful sistarhood and rejuvenation.  Several workshops will be offered over the course of the weekend including information on how to maintain optimal female reproductive health.  Crystal contraception is a course in herbal and natural contraceptive methods for effective and pleasant alternatives to westernized birth control. We will discuss the history and scientific findings of herbal supplements and contraceptive methods, emmenagogues, tracking methods and more, to discover a reliable system our ancestors have been aware of for ages.  Herbal spring cleansing for women will be a magical afternoon playing with medicinal plants.  We will learn about several green allies for spring cleansing that we can incorporate into our everyday lives.  Our focus will be on nourishing our liver and kidneys and how we can use all the fresh edible spring greens as food.  In this practical class we will mix some special tea blends, learn how to make our own herbal tinctures, and create a healing salve from local organic ingredients.  You will get an introduction to herbal medicine making, some basic recipes, and a handful of medicines to initiate your spring cleansing regimen.  In the evening we will partake in Healing Our Wombs, a two hour ceremony and ritual offering a sacred space for women to let go of the suffering they carry in their bellies.
